Excellent food and wine. They seemed to be understaffed on a Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was less than attentive and the service was beyond leisurely. Dessert was not very good but the Cubano and Turkey Cranberry sandwiches were spot on. We would definitely go back.

So happy we found this place. The wine list is impressive and very affordable. The cheese plate was beautiful. What we thought was part of the plate design was actually balsamic vinegar and other sauces made to look like a bunch of grapes. Very pretty. Seating in the courtyard was nice until two spiders decided to build their webs above our heads. Yeah, we decided to cut our visit short because of this. Even though we all agreed how spiders do serve a purpose in killing mosquitoes, having them dangle above our heads was not comfortable. Will we come back again? Absolutely!! Aside from the critters, the wine list is impressive and the service was great. Maybe we will sit inside the restaurant on our next visit.

Another great food find in Havre de Grace! The wine, the food, the ambiance, the service...all top notch!

Not bad. Except that we had to eat in the lounge area because the main eating area had a bad draft of frigid air. It made for an interesting meal though...sitting on ottomans and a couch, slouching over to reach the food on the low-standing coffee table. But hey! There was a fireplace! The flat bread (the Cuban and the somethingorother chicken) were pretty tasty. A good crunch, a decent amount of softness, nice flavours, not bad at all. We also got a hot sandwich. I don't recall the meat (pastrami?), but the marbled rye bread that it was on was so, so, so soft. Probably the first time I've enjoyed that type of bread. The small square plate of potato chips was a little ridiculous though. Enough for one person and we were four. The wine was great. I'm happy to say this, as they have one of the biggest selections of wine in the MD area (I believe). We ended up leaving with a $10 bottle of some of the best pinot noir I've had to date. All in all, the experience was decent enough, but it didn't hold any 'wow' factors, so a 3 it is!

My boyfriend and I visited The Vineyard on Valentine's day. We were able to make reservations on Open Table, which is awesome. We happened to get an epic snowstorm on Valentine's day eve, so when we arrived at 11am the staff was in a tizzy trying to get the snow cleared from the front of the shop. The owner let us in early as we were waiting outside, and invited us to be seated and apologized for the disorganization that morning. They didn't miss a beat serving us, though. We each ordered a flatbread and a glass of wine. They serve wine from local wineries including Mt. Felix, which is a big plus. The flatbreads were tasty and complimented the wine well. We were going to pass on dessert, but the waiter sold us on the ice cream they have that is made by a local dairy using a local wine! How could we say no? Definitely recommend!! The atmosphere is excellent as well, with an inviting bar and seating area adjacent but separated from the lounge-y wine gallery. Something for everyone!

I went here for the first time last night. It was AMAZING! My friends and I always have a hard time with the large portion sizes at most restaurants. We love small plate restaurants because we can order the amount of food we plan to eat. We all ordered different items. It was all fantastic. Very delicious food. The pastry in the dishes is so light and delicate. We then ordered dessert and the wine ice cream is heavenly. Our service was perfect! Our server Jason was attentive but also realized that we just wanted to talk the night away so he didn't interrupt us very often. He also brought a glass of champagne with a strawberry and candle out for my birthday! It was such a sweet surprise. I did notice that the food took a little longer to come out than most places however, we were looking for that because we love to talk and relax. It probably took a little time to create those masterpiece dishes. Seriously cannot explain how good the food is. Most places make us feel rushed. We didn't feel that here. We arrived at 8pm and left when they closed at 10 pm.

My boyfriend and I met some friends here on Friday night in the quaint little town of Havre de Grace. The Vineyard is located on a street with a bunch of sleepy old shops and restaurants. Let me start by saying that our dinner at The Vineyard was a surprisingly high end experience. I split a bottle of Pinot Noir with one of our friends, his girlfriend got a glass of Prosecco, and my boyfriend ordered a Pinot Grigio. We were all very happy with our drink choices, and the wine selection was impressive. I think we were all silently kicking ourselves for not writing down what wines we ordered to purchase at the wine shop after dinner. For appetizers, we started with two flatbreads--the Prosciutto, which was accompanied by arugula and a sweetened balsamic, and also the Chorizo flatbread, which had a few chunks of mushroom on top. Both were fantastic--we devoured them. We then noshed on a charcuterie plate and Baked Brie. Wrapped in a puffed pastry and baked to creamy perfection, the Baked Brie was the highlight of my meal--I nearly fought my dining companions for the last bite. We got four entrees and split them all around--Asiago Chicken, Shrimp Skewers, Salmon Wellington, and the Pork Roulade. All of them were impeccable, but I think the Pork Roulade was superior--the amalgamation of flavors created a sort of explosion in my mouth for lack of a less cliche analogy. The combination of brie, apple, jam, baby spinach, and pork was unbeatable. Each couple finished their meal with the Flourless Chocolate Torte--very small, but still tasty. Just enough to punctuate the meal with something sweet and decadent. It is important to note that at The Vineyard, you do NOT receive large portions. Our waiter, who was attentive and easygoing, described the typical Vineyard plate size as a little larger than tapas. Personally, I prefer restaurants that offer small plate options because I like to sample a bunch of different things, so if you're like me, you would love The Vineyard. I definitely plan on making another trip up North to revisit The Vineyard.

Back again!! This time it's the amazing spicy crab soup and some meatballs. And, of course, fabulous wine. 818 Tarima Hill. Just delicious! I love this little spot.

Stopped by for drinks with my sweetie. I asked the bartender for a dry red wine, kinda light and I got a very tasty gamay for $9.00. My wife and I split a plate of pate, an app for $12. Tasty pate was tasty! Seems like a friendly place, and the pate is good. We liked it.

I absolutely love the atmosphere here. They are very well mannered and held our table to an extra 15 minutes (only a tad bit late). They also explained that the table was ours for the rest of the night. The assortment of wines was incredible, and they are more than available to answer your questions about what wine would be paired with a certain dish.

To understand The Vineyard you need to reconcile two things. On the one hand, they don't do substitutions, even when you're asking for something really simple that shouldn't even be a speed bump for a competent kitchen. Even when you're asking for something that no other restaurant within a 100 mile radius would even consider a substitution. They don't entertain substitutions because their chef has spent many years perfecting these recipes and understands exactly how food should taste, and you don't get a vote. Oh, and they serve potato chips. Out of a bag. Not house made. With their perfect sandwiches. Seriously?

Love!!!! Love the atmosphere, so cozy and warm, feel like sitting in the cellar at home. Love the service, our waiter is very knowledgible with wine. Love the wine!!! whatever taste you like, they have. Love the food!!!! The best Crab salad I have ever had. Seared Tuna comes with tropical fried rice is to die for! Dessert! OMG. Very rare I have dessert after dinner, but I had to! and of course, very pleased! Local made berry ice cream and strawberry brule' are my favorite. Can't wait to go back!

I am new to the state, and the move came right before my birthday. I decided to try this place out for my birthday dinner, and I ended up falling in love with The Vineyard. The meal portions are just as they are in my European travels, light but delicious and full of flavor. If you are expecting a hearty plate of pasta or meat this is not the experience you will get. Their prices are EXTREMELY fair, and I have paid more for less quality. In my two visits the staff has been pleasant and accommodating, but they do have certain rules to be aware of: no children after 5 pm, and if you dine outside you can not be served the regular menu. Both are a bummer for me as I have a 10 year old and no sitters, so I am not able to visit this establishment as much as I would like. If these rules were not in place I would be able to (and would) visit probably twice a week.

Been here once or twice for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly, and it's a fancy atmosphere. Nice place to take a date. I'm a big fan of the baked potato soup, but I've never had anything bad at this location. I didn't even know they had a courtyard, I'll have to go back sometime soon and check it out!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! this is by far my favorite place to go when I have a night out! the staff is so nice, the wine is fabulous and the food is always just what I needed! I cant say enough about the way they operate! I love to let our waitress/waiter pick wines for me after explaining what I like! the surprise is usually wonderful and a wine I wouldn't normally pick for myself. If you haven't gone, you need to go!

This was my second experience going to a wine bar, so I wasn't expecting much. Saw this spot in my yelp searches and decided to try with my friend. My friend and I decided to sit out back and good choice because there was no wait! Haha. Extremely quaint vibe in a quaint area. It was a really really chill spot. Wine: Many wine offerings. My friend and I selected a red wine-something Sarah? I'm not a big vino, but I enjoyed it and so did my friend because she's had it before. Food: Well they're tapas portion (my first experience by the way) so you know it's not a lot, but that's what makes it fun to try many items on the menu. I had the crab meat ravioli and that was pretty good and then I had the Jamaican jerk pork with mango sauce-so good! I don't remember what my friend had, but she said it was good. Service: Excellent. The server, he was very knowledgeable and friendly. Never rushed us at all. Being unfamiliar with the area my friend and I decided to ask how to pronounce Havre De Grace and a little bit of information about this area and wow, mindblown! Price: Well I knew it'd be expensive but definitely was affordable. The bottle of wine was $31 and each tapas was $11 or so. Overall, I'd visit here again if I was in the area. Havre De Grace is a pretty cool town with some rich history so check it out!

Wow had a really nice time at this place when visiting for the day. The wine list and affordability is amazing. I am not a huge wine connoisseur but they had some really complex wines and different wines i have never heard of. They had a nice list and what I really loved was that you can get 3 oz tastes of many of them. I am a light weight and 2 glasses of wine puts me to bed, so getting to try a few was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions however. The food menu was great and we wanted to try everything. We had 2 cheeses we had never heard of before - the momte and teit ... something which were both quite nice. Momte i liked more a bit like a swiss cheese and lighter. the other one is shaved cheese and has a deeper taste that is a bit sharper. With the 2 cheeses we also got the salami. All served on a cheese board with walnuts and fig jam. the bread served was all crispy - i would prefer a bit softer bread, maybe a few crispy pieces and a few softer pieces but that's really splitting hairs. Crab ravioli was excellent and would recommend. Watermelon tower was very nice and drizzled with honey which i love. We got the baked brie in a pastry served with some balsamic vinegar which was delicious. The chicken saltimboco entree was expensive for a smaller than expected plate and wasn't my favorite but still was good. For dessert we opted for 2 dessert drinks - the Port from Portugal which was really delicious and then a white from Madeira that was coffee/caramel/toffee which was good but not for me and the BF loved it. Our bill was definitely over 100 but we were stuffed and had a great time. They have an outdoor garden in the back which we enjoyed sitting in and there is even a fan out there. However to use the restrooms, you have to go around in through the main entrance. Not a huge deal but just unusual and caught me by surprise. Would recommend and would return

Although I have eaten at the Vineyard several times, never a disappointment, yesterday evening I attended the wine basics course taught by Joe. I have been a wine consumer for over 25-years and was proud of my level of education and knowledge of wine. I basically took this class as something my girlfriend and I could do that was of interest to both of us. Boy was I surprised by what I did not know, what I did know that was wrong, and how much there was to know. Basically Joe teaches the correct way to identify a good wine from the label. Doesn't sound like a lot but there is much to know about labeling of good wines vs. bad or average wine. Joe teaches about the types of wine, types of grape, areas of production and much more. The class was $25 (at this time) but it was worth a heck of a lot more when you consider avoiding wines that are not worth the price and how much you learn, plus samples. I highly recommend this course and the Vineyard to all who read this review. The food is delicious and the appetizers are a really good way to have a light meal with a tasty beverage for a snack. Truly I have never had a bad experience at the Vineyard and will continue to patronize this great little restaurant for as long as I live in Havre de Grace.

Cozy atmosphere with extensive wine options. We came for only dessert and cocktails so this review is based on that only. We've been wanting to come here for a while and it did my disappoint. The fireplace and wine store atmosphere was intriguing. Our server gave us great suggestions and we walked out with a great bottle of wine that is exclusive made for The Vineyard. We'll definitely be back!!

A very quaint and romantic dining experience nestled in the heart of small-town America, right here in Harford County. A bit pricey but well worth the orgasmic rapture your taste buds will experience here. Well over a 100 wine choices to pick from by either half-glass, glass, or bottle. On French night we loved the Gruyere souffle and I wanted to lick out the ramekin. This is the perfect special occasion experience you are looking share with that special someone.

Vineyard Wine Bar unexpected surprise. I was told by a friend that this restaurant/wine bar in Havre de Grace was definitely worth checking out, I hesitated because of my past experiences with restaurants in Havre de Grace (MacGregor's and Tidewater Grille) which were only so-so. Overall: Nice gem in Havre de Grace, long list of wines, lovely lounge area, and common food executed with a nod towards complex flavors. Lunch with 1 salad, 1 flatbread and 2 sandwiches and 3 wines with 1 tasting , 2 desserts and 1 coffee = $100 (tip included). Will update with Dinner reviews. What I would like to see - more complex flavors on the menu with innovative pairings, more attention to the importance on caramelization/use of fond and attention to food concerns (lactose intolerance, gluten-free/celiac, nuts, etc..) Atmosphere When you first pull up, you will realize that across the street from the restaurant is their wine shop (nice) AND they seem to have their own lot (or at least the signs indicate that they have parking space for the restaurant. Walking in, you will notice a large bar to the left, dark hardwood floors and matching tables for 2-4 in a small seating area around the bar. This arrangement reminds me of the gastropubs in any city. If you want this experience, go ahead, but I woul d say to ask for seating into the lounge (Trust me). Once you turn the corner from the bar, you will walk into the lounge area. I would describe it as sitting in a posh living room/wine cellar. The carpeted floors, 3 seating areas of couches and coffee tables complete with fireplace and flat screen will make you feel right at home, but not so home that you forget you are at a wine bar. The open cube bookshelves (think Expedit from Ikea) are filled with wines to serve as a continuous reminder that you are at a wine bar. If I didn't have other things to do that day, I would have stayed straight through until dinner and then some. Food The lunch menu consists of 3 items - salad, flatbread and sandwiches. Although I was hoping for a gastronomic adventure that paired with wine, I was happy to items that are normally familiar jazzed up with a touch of sophistication. We ordered: Beet and Goat Cheese salad, Olive Tapenade Flatbread, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Grilled Salmon Sandwich, Apple Pie Bread Pudding and Italian Lemon Crumb Cake. Beet and Goat Cheese Salad : This was delicious. It came with 4 rather large slices of 2 different kinds of roasted beets with oblong pearls of goat cheese and a spring mix salad topped with walnuts. The salad was perfectly dressed in a chive vinaigrette and since this is a classic combination, it was delicious. Aside from wanting more goat cheese because the pearls didn't seem to be enough, I was quite happy Olive Tapenade Flatbread: This flatbread was pretty good. The chicken was not dry (yay!), the pesto crème was a nice touch, but I was missing olives... I wanted more than what was presented on the flatbread. Chicken salad sandwich: I didn't have this one, but my friend did. She said it was better than the typical chicken salad sandwich and had a nice touch with the grapes (def a America's Test Kitchens touch. Very nice) Grilled Salmon Sandwich: I would have to like to see some caramelization (browning)/grill marks on the salmon because we all know that adds to flavor and it would have looked better than a pale peach slab of fish that could have looked like it came from a can (not saying it did). I generally hate raw onion in anything because it overpowers everything, but the caper, onion cream cheese spread was perfect touch of creamy richness with the briney/acidic flavor from the capers. The buerre blanc (white wine-butter) sauce was the perfect touch... what goes better with fish than lemon?? The few sprigs of dill rounded out everything. I really enjoyed this sandwich... but they really, really need to hear me on having caramelization on the fish. Wine: The list is extensive (think 3 pages of MS excel spreadsheet) with details on year, location, winery, type, prices for bottle, glass and tasting (3 oz). We had 3, a Rose Champagne, Rose wine and a Piont. All were great. I liked seeing the local wineries represented on the list... I love restaurants that source locally. Dessert: Apple Pie bread pudding: this was delicious with all the flavors you would expect from the title - delicious custardy goodness with the cinnamon apples, but the texture was not perfect; you needed a knife. In my perfect world, a bread budding should have 2 textures (3 if you add turbindao sugar on top)' 1, gooey, lusciousness from bread being absorbed into the custard 2. Crispy edges from where the bread pudding made contact with the pan and caramelized Italian Lemon Cream Coffee Cake - loved this desert, but i can get the same exact thing from Olive Garden - they call it, the Italian Lemon Cream Cake.. try and tell me that i am wrong on drawing the simliaries.

This is my favorite resturant in Havre De Grace. They have a huge wine list. The wines can be purchased in 3oz pours to share with a couple of people, so you can taste a number of different wines to find the one you like. The food menu is small but everything is tasty. Cheese plates are exceptional !! Wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle, and bottles of wine can also be purchased and brought home. Prices are reasonable and service is good. If you go on Fri or Sat for dinner make reservations.

Great ambience. Soothing decor. Tried them for the first time while visiting HdG. Service for their wine selection was very helpful. We sampled several 3oz wines and finished by splitting a dessert. I woudn't take my younger children but for a peaceful, adult escape it's a definite visit.

Real nice atmosphere. Our server/bartender was a really nice guy who was happy to share info about the food and wine. The wine list is one of the more extensive I've seen. My bf got a pinot noir from Oregon that was fantastic. For lunch I had the cubano paninni. It was really delicious. The only complaint I have is that for $9, I'd hope for at least some fries instead of a couple of potato chips. The bf got a pastrami and he was very pleased with it. We were too stuffed from lunch, but the server mentioned a wine-infused ice cream with chocolate and sweet cherries that's made at a creamery in the area. Boy that sounds good. Maybe next time.

I've been into the Vineyard twice now with my GF's family and really enjoyed it both times. The wine list is long and diverse and the food is excellent. I really like that they'll do tasting pours on almost everything so you can do a large tasting before you decide to buy and then you can take home whatever you enjoy as they sell bottles right there. For food I especially recommend the flat breads. They're the perfect size for a couple people to share and they're all really tasty. The only thing I would want is more information about the wines from the list (tasting notes etc.) or from the server. Other than that it's a really nice place to spend the afternoon.

I like the vineyard and have eaten there more than a dozen times. I think the food is quite good. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star review though is due to an absurd amount of pretension on their part. I attempted to order a salad with - gasp! - the dressing that accompanies another salad on their menu. After an initial "oh no" from the server, I was then informed that they were out of the dressing requested... a simple vinaigrette! I wonder what they were out of, the lemon? Maybe the vinegar? I don't know, being lied to just made it worse. This amount of pretentiousness from a restaurant that serves potato chips with their sandwiches is just absurd!

Great place! It's a tapas-style wine bar. 75 different types of wine, separated by white/red and body. --Food: I had the seared tuna. It comes on a bed of rice pilaf and comes with a wasabi sauce and lemon. My date ate all the rice so I have to assume it was good. The wasabi sauce was good but I could've used some type of soy sauce as well. Cheese and Meat Platter. The capicola ham paired with the smoked gouda was amaaaazing! The only issue was, the cheese portion was pretty skimp. Tasty....but skimp. The platters come with a balsamic, red pepper, olive oil sauce that didn't really strike my fancy but it's there if it's your thing. Rustic Flatbreads. These are their specialties. I had one with an olive tampenade, provolone cheese, red peppers, tuscan grilled chicken, and a pesto sauce. It was pretty good! Ingredients were great but as always....I need more cheese. --Wine: Got nothing bad to say. Our sommelier, Kirk, has been in the business for 30yrs (maybe 20, i forget) and picks the wines himself. --Location: Wonderful location. Ambience is perfect.

Excellent food and wine. They seemed to be understaffed on a Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was less than attentive and the service was beyond leisurely. Dessert was not very good but the Cubano and Turkey Cranberry sandwiches were spot on. We would definitely go back.

  • Paul K.

Seriously?

My favorite restaurant in Havre de Grace. The flatbread with arugula is out of this world! It's basically a tapas place, so be prepared for small plate dining. Great wine list and knowledgeable staff. Ambiance is good, but come on guys get some original art on the walls and get rid of those cheesy prints!

This is the 2nd time my boyfriend and I have visited this venue while visiting his parents. The first time we sat in the main dining room and although I'm unable to have gluten or corn, they were super accommodating. This time we sat in the side room which features soft seating and a fire place. As previously the menu was fantastic as well as the wine selection. I could not recommend more highly the pork shank as it truely is the best that my boyfriend and I have ever had. Their variety of wines and knowledge of them Is unequivalent. Our sever was Andrea and she facilitated our wine selection beautifully. You NEED to check this place out if you are in town, but even if you are not, it's worth the trip!

One of my favorite things about my home state of Maryland is the fact that you can find incredible, inviting, unique, quirky restaurants like this in small, quiet towns like Havre de Grace. We sat out back on the terrace on a summer night and enjoyed a big meal with incredible wines (they have an awesome list and a co-located wine shop that you can grab bottles from). You can get 3 oz pours (which I totally recommend) and sample a ton of different wines for reasonable prices, and they are served in their own little carafes. The cheese and meat platter was the best, featuring local cheeses, and nothing is outrageously expensive. My biggest complaint would be that we found this place by looking for an "Italian" restuarant, which it definitely isn't. I would describe the food as straight-up American, maybe with some European influences, but pretty American. The food definitely wasn't disappointing though. Great atmosphere, our server was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, polite and quick. If you're ever in Havre de Grace, you owe it to yourself to eat here, it's the best restaurant in the area.

1 complaint. When you've ordered lunch and a few tastings of wine I would think they would give you a thimble taste of a wine you wanted to buy from the store, AND was already opened. But, our waiter wouldn't budge and said we had to order a 3 oz sample. Didn't think that was very accomodating when you're buying other bottles. The lunch was much better than I expected. We had faltbreads that are ample for lunch and both were tasty and fresh. I really like the concept of 3oz pours and 6 oz pours in order to try the wines. Good selection in the wine lounge/store next to the restaurant. Found some wines I normally don't see here in PA, but then again we have beloved "state stores", so that might not be saying much. If you're in the area, it's a nice spot with good food and if you like wines, the selection by the glass is wonderful. Just don't ask for a teensy tasting, it won't happen.

I stopped in on Friday night and got a table for one with no problem. The wine list was extensive and not being a wine expert, the waiter was good enough to recommend a great wine for a decent price. The ambiance was nice, casual but quiet and comfortable. The staff was pleasant, but it was clear there was a group of regulars and a group of everyone else. However, food menu was a little weak - While EVERYTHING was tasty, the menu selection was limited. If you are looking for anything more than larger appetizers, you are out of luck. I was really hoping for a steak, and I was out of luck. I had a Caesar salad with a side of shrimp which was very good, and I got a plate of mozzarella and tomatoes and basil. Overall the tomatoes were tasty, but the oil & balsamic was rather tasteless, based on a very low volume in contrast to the tomatoes and mozzarella itself. Overall, a great experience, but don't go looking for a real meal

This place is awesome, for a lot of reasons. I went here on a date because it's halfway between Philly and Washington. +1 for location (at least in this specific case). The atmosphere is great. You can either sit in the retail side on couches with a fireplace, at the bar, or at a table. The service was excellent, as our service was friendly and quite knowledgeable about the extensive wine list. The wine list itself was impressive, with hundreds of choices available in 3 or 6 oz tastings, or by the bottle. The food was great, and I highly recommend the flatbreads. Lastly, the price is must better than I expected. The Vineyard is a high quality spot, with many choices and great tastes in food and drink, and won't break the budget.

They misrepresent their hours. We drove there to eat dinner and they said they were closed. Their hours said 5-8 but they told us the last seating is at 7. Why tell people you are open til 8 if you really aren't . I don't care what time you get off work, I want to know when I can come in to eat. We wasted an hour round trip and didn't get a meal.
